Welcome to another Super Short Sunday post! I’ve realized that I have SO much that I want to share with you, but sometimes it’s just a quick thought here and there. Sundays have become a time for me to be candid with y’all and share what’s been on my mind, what I’ve been learning, and what I’ve been doing that’s been working. I love being able to share some of my more personal struggles and thoughts in a super quick post, so let’s do this!
One of the things that I have been struggling with a lot lately is keeping my thoughts in check and staying away from gossip! It’s such a bad habit, and I thought that it would be a lot easier to squash, but day in and day out…it’s a struggle.
And it all starts with my thoughts.
I have been realizing that those little things that I’m thinking to myself are pretty damaging! Ever heard the saying, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”? It’s a good rule, but I think that we need to take it a bit further. Why not try to abolish the negative thoughts all together? In the eyes of God, a negative thought about someone can be just as damaging as if we said it out loud, so why do we think we’re good to go as long as we don’t say it out loud?
See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled… -Hebrews 12:15
I often find myself thinking unkind things about other people and, more often than not, those things end up coming out of my mouth! For the week ahead, I will be shifting my focus to guarding my thoughts and mind. I want to only think things that are pleasing to the Lord. I want to only say things that show others the love of God. It’s time to make sure that kind thoughts are turning into kind words!
